LATIN AMERICAN WATCHES

We believe in the expansion of the watches frontiers and we see the opportunity for not only offer a good design, but to introduce to an innovative piece of cultural heritage. Our watches uses wood and copper as complementary materials to stainless steel and bronce.

Today we are launching ANCESTRAL Watches, a three-model quartz collection inspired by pre-Columbian cultures of today’s Chilean territory:

MYSTERIES OF NORTHERN VALLEYS

DIAGUITA

The Diaguita pays tribute to the pre-Columbian people of north-central Chile, the Diaguitas. The dial is made of maple wood and metal, with silk-screen printing applications, reflecting the zoomorphic art applied in the craftsmanship of this native ethnic group of our country, with its characteristic geometry and colors. It also comes with the date function, using a movement of the Japanese brand Miyota Citizen. Water resistant to 50 meters (5ATM), you can bathe and swim with it. The printing is based on pottery art found on “Valle del Elqui” zone in the north of the country. It is believed that this feline style pattern represents a chamanic spirit for guidance.

STRENGTH & RESISTANCE

NEWEN

In a revamped design, the Newen design use a stainless steel case with “Gun Metal” plating, a double-curved domed crystal, and a highly resistant Italian lambskin strap. The design pays tribute to the Mapuche people of southern Chile. The dial is made of bamboo wood and metal, with silkscreen applications, alluding to Mapuche looms with their characteristic geometry and colors. It also comes with a date function, powered by a Japanese Miyota Citizen motor. Water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM), you can wear it for bathing or swimming.

The dial pattern is related to the looms used in the Mapuche culture. Ancient tradition keeped until today.

RITE OF PASSAGE

HAIN

The Hain design pays tribute to the pre-Columbian Selknam people of southern Chile. The case is made of stainless steel case with sandblast black platin. The dial is made of walnut and metal, with silkscreen applications featuring one of the participants in the “Hain” ceremony and its characteristic geometry and colors. It also features a date function, powered by a Japanese Miyota Citizen engine. Water-resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM), it’s suitable for swimming and bathing.

The dial design showcases one of the spirits called “Matan” or “The Big Dancer”

UN TAMAÑO QUE LUCE

CASE

At 40mm and made from anti-corrosive 316L stainless steel, the case showcases a brushed style with polished bevels in the same watch. It catch the attention, keeping a sober style.

The Dias are made in three different wood: Maple, Bamboo and Sandal. Its made on a three layers structure, mixing the metal lower base that contains the tribe’s patterns and the date function at three. The medium level is the wooden layer with the character print and the third uper level is the slope metal hour marks.

The Ancestral Watches are powered by the Miyota 2115 movement. Miyota is one of the most respected and important movement companies in the world. The 2115 is a movement that provides a good balance between budget and reliability.

We choose a paper “wooden” style packaging with the three tribes design on it. It will keep safe the watch and it’s easy to transport and shipping abroad.

Fees will vary according to your destination and will be automatically added to your pledge, once you confirm your location. As a reference, in USA & EU: 25 USD All backers are liable for their own country’s Duty/ VAT/ GST charges.

WARRANTY

One (1) year warranty from the date of receiving your UW watch. The warranty only covers manufacturing defects.

Castor Watches was born from my desire for independence, professional growth, and personal fulfillment. This journey began in 2015 in Valparaíso, Chile, when I seized the opportunity to become an entrepreneur. Driven by my passion for watches, I was inspired to create a unique line of timepieces that not only stood out for their innovative use of materials like wood and copper, but also embodied a deep cultural identity. The inaugural collection, the Ancestral line, was inspired by the Diaguita, Mapuche, and Selknam cultures, reflecting the rich graphic legacy, ceremonial practices, and traditional garments of these indigenous peoples.

Over the years, Castor Watches has expanded its repertoire and now features more than 20 original designs that celebrate and represent our rich cultural heritage.
